The Association of Waterways Ambassadors of Nigeria on the 12th of June, 2019. Made a courtesy visit to the General Manager of Rhythm 93.7fm Port Harcourt in the person of Amb. Segun Iwolabi.
The courtesy visit was centred on the terms of partnership to actualize the sustainable development of our waterways in Rivers State and Nigeria at large.
Speaking at the event the President of Association of Waterways Ambassadors of Nigeria Comrade. Amb. Morford Temple, Said that Nigeria waterways system has experience major setback for years and that proper and adequate majors to manage our waterways he further more said in other parts of the World, waterways contribute majorly to the national income where as in Nigeria everything is focus on crude, leaving our waterways dormant and full of dirty and plastic waste. He also pointed out that our waterways can contribute to the economic through Transport, Hotels, Beach, Park Resort, and even reserved serene Residents.
Amb. Segun Iwolabi said waterways in Nigeria has been a dumping ground for dirty of plastics and other human wastes and even criminals siting the Bonny Ocean, Kola River, Elechi Beach in Port Harcourt etc..
He pointed out that it will be a big task before the organisation to educate and sensitize the public on the economic importance of developing our waterways. He also promised to support the Organisation and Partner with them.
